The workshop the brand will open to the public (850 square meters in the old heart of Florence, in Via delle Belle Donne) is where the high fashion lingerie chosen by the Duchess of Kent, Paola del Belgio, Jane Fonda, emirs, rock stars attracted by the 19th century art of embroidery applied to unique and precious garments is created. An enchanting panorama of household linen and silks used by royal families from all over the world (Windsor, Orange-Nassau, Bourbon) and by the Rockefellers, by the Roshschilds, by the Kennedys, by the Gettys. In that same atelier, there’s a private collection of thousands of pieces ranging from 1500 to 1960.

Loretta Caponi
Via Delle Belle Donne, 28/R, Firenze (Firenze)
A story that blends Italian art and craftsmanship. The one of Loretta Caponi, the legend of Italian embroidery born in 1924 in Fiesole. Loretta was only 9 years old when, with great passion, she proved her love for that craft. In 1967, strong of her rising success, Loretta inaugurates her first atelier in Borgo Ognissanti, Florence: in that small boutique only one tailors’ bust would find room in the shop window. This is where she awed the first viewers by displaying a one-size turtleneck nightgown, using cotton, linen and silk, smock stitch and neck frills. Her innovative touch? Colorful patterns, stripes or flowers, very different from the pastel tones so much in vogue at the time. In 1967 among Loretta’s first notable clients visiting her atelier was Paola Ruffo di Calabria, Princess of Liege and future to be Queen of Belgium. Over the following 50 years Loretta will conquer a large group of followers and loyal admirers that call upon her for valuable household linen and clothing: The Kennedys, Gettys, Rothschilds and Rockfellers, but also Royals like the Windsor, Borbone and Orange Nassau families.
Loretta, who passed away in 2015, left an ambitious heritage that is projected towards the future under the helm of her daughter Lucia Caponi, Creative Director, and her nephew Guido.
